Tick, Tick... Boom! follows a young artist's journey through life on the brink of turning 30. An electric, heartfelt true story certain to inspire you. All profits from the show will be donated to the Canadian AIDS Society.
A young composer tries to make it big before 30. RENT's Jonathan Larson wrote this show about himself—about the pressure to create something meaningful before time runs out.
Jonathan Larson toured Tick, Tick... Boom! as an autobiographical rock monologue, which has since been rediscovered and reimagined—most notably in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s 2021 Oscar-nominated Netflix film adaptation starring Andrew Garfield. It remains one of the most powerful commentaries on what it means to be an artist today, and, like all of Larson's work, seems to become truer by the day.
It’s raw, loud, and honest. Four performers. One band. No fluff. Intimate, stripped-back, and powerful.
“We wanted it to feel like you're in Jon’s apartment, not watching from row J. That closeness—it’s what makes this show different.”
It’s for anyone who’s ever chased something big. Anyone who’s ever doubted themselves. Anyone who’s ever wanted to just make something.
"There's a truly beautiful message behind this piece that can make any artist fall in love. The first time I saw it, I knew I had to share this story with my community. Watch Jon cope with and laugh about his own life, and pay attention to how it impacts what he's writing about; it's as if one of the smartest composers of our time is giving you a front row seat into the experiences behind his work, and then you get to experience his incredible and unique music live for yourself. This production itself is living proof of just how inspiring this piece is."
The music roars. It’s all played live—rock band on stage, amps cranked, no safety net. From high-energy rock anthems to vulnerable ballads, Larson’s score carries the whole thing like a heartbeat. All the hits audiences have come to expect: 30/90, Louder than Words, Therapy, and more!
Built by young Hamilton artists. This production was dreamed up by a group of local twenty-somethings who know exactly what it feels like to stare down the clock and wonder, am I doing enough?
Every ticket helps someone. All profits will be donated to the Canadian AIDS Society, in tribute to Larson and the community he stood for.
